Tom Cruise has been making a number of surprise appearances in the U.K. while filming Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part 1, and most recently he was seen out and about in the Lake District where he was performing a helicopter stunt. Mission: Impossible 7 and 8 will allegedly bring Tom Cruise’s franchise to a close, although that is something that has already been disputed by director Christopher McQuarrie, but one thing for certain is that if it is Cruise’s swan song as Ethan Hunt, he is going out with a bang.
Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part 1 will be the first movie in the franchise since Mission: Impossible – Fallout made a sizeable dent in the box office in 2018. Just like in all of his movies, Cruise has been performing some awesome stunts for the film, and that has frequently led him to surprise some unsuspecting members of the public. As reported in the U.K.’s The Northern Echo, Cruise was recently filming in the Lake District in the North of England and took a moment to have his photo taken with a couple, while apologizing for making such a ruckus.
The couple, Adam wheeler and Lucy Hinch, recalled how they were out walking their dog in the picturesque region when they stumbled across Cruise filming a paragliding stunt. After waiting for a short time, Cruise walked over to them and spent a little time chatting. Wheeler commented:
“He was nice and polite and really humble. Tom Cruise apologized for the noise of the helicopters and asked if we ere alright. He was making sure everybody who wanted to got their photos with him. We were the last ones to get his picture and then he just paraglided off the mountain back to his camp next to Buttermere.”
Tom Cruise Is Still Riding High On The Success Of Top Gun: Maverick
At 60 years old, there would be some actors who would be more than happy to allow stuntmen to take on the hardest parts of filming an action movie, but Tom Cruise is certainly not that person. Having recently seen Top Gun: Maverick breaking records around the world, Cruise’s willingness to put himself in real danger really pays off in his movies. Whether it is flying a plane, jumping out of a plane, fighting on top of a moving train or performing motorcycle stunts, there is very little that Cruise won’t do to make sure his movies are as authentic as they can be.
However, that could be coming to an end sometime soon, with it seeming unlikely that he will be starring in another Top Gun movie, and is said to be preparing to hang up his boots as Ethan Hunt in the Mission: Impossible franchise. However, it really is a case of it’s not over until it’s over, and while many early reports have suggested that Cruise may be pulling back on his big action roles, there are many who will only believe that when it actually happens.
Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part 1 is scheduled to hit cinemas on July 7, 2023, with Part 2 releasing the following year.
